The Heart Rhythm Society
The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) is the international leader in advocacy, education, and science relating to heart arrhythmias. They serve both professionals and patients and serve as the primary information source regarding heart rhythm disorders. Their mission is to improve the treatment available to patients by promoting research and education.
The HRS was founded in 1979. Their membership currently includes in excess of 4,500 physicians, associated professionals, and scientists from more than 70 countries. This group is the front-runner for the allied fields of cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac pacing. The society fills the important role of an intermediary between government regulatory agencies and the members of the HRS.
The Heart Rhythm Society provides continuing education in order to augment the abilities of heart specialists worldwide. This is to elevate the level of care available to patients regardless of the doctor’s point in his or her career. The mission is accomplished by providing academically rigorous training throughout the year as well as enduring materials and educational activities.
The HRS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). This gives them permission to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The objectives, course content, and faculty are overseen by the Education Committee.
The HRS holds an annual scientific meeting in May. Over 200 sessions are available in a variety of formats which include symposia, core curricula, clinical tutorials, mini-courses, debates, scientific abstracts, and meet-the-expert panels.
